Personal Training Bio/
Background
I became an
ACE-Certified Personal Trainer in 1998.In
1997 I was seriously injured in a freak
downhill ski accident in Seoul, Korea. The
doctors told me that if I didn't get an
operation within two weeks, I would never
walk again. I was whisked back to California
and spent a year on disability and in
physical therapy working to regain my health
and mobility. This experience helped me to
know what it is to overcome a physical
disability. Since I had to exercise anyway, I
became a certified personal trainer to be
able to work at the
Women's Fitness Center in Fairfax in 1998.I
swam in the 2nd Tiburon Mile in 2000 across
the San Francisco Bay to prove to myself
that I made a complete recovery from my
accident.
I had already been a Certified Massage
Therapist since my graduation from law
school in 1978.
I also teach
swimming to children and adults (for the
past seven years) in Marin County, where I
have lived since October 1997.I have
taught seniors exercise classes and water
aerobics at The Tamalpais, handicapped
people at The Cedars, lead weight loss
support groups for women at The Figures Gym
in Novato, and lead outside exercise classes
at Hamilton Field where I live in Novato,
California. Before I became a personal trainer, I
operated a weight loss coaching and wellness
business in San Diego in the early
1990's. I led weight loss support groups
and taught a college community class on
weight loss and wellness.
